Started in the 1930s as Shepshed Footwear Co Ltd the brand changed its name in 1946 to Scott-Nichol after its founder John Scott-Nichol whose family experience in the Scottish wool trade went back centuries. In 2006 the company was acquired by Pantherella also based in Leicester England. Scott-Nichol’s virgin wool and ringspun cotton leisure socks are made using higher gauge yarns than those used for Pantherella’s dress socks creating a more versatile everyday sock for men and women.
